Salon Science

Having an irritable scalp, the clear choice of the Salon Science for me to try was the Scalp Relief range featuring Aquacacteen.

First of all, I must say I have put off posting about this because I wanted to do a proper trial with it. I have now been using this range for just under 3 months and here are my thoughts.

I got these at 3 for 2 at Boots, nabbing all three things at £32.
The items are not exactly cheap/drugstore.

Salon Science Hydraluxe Shampoo Aquacacteen 250ml - £13

First up, the shampoo is recommended to be used twice (as in shampoo once, then rinse, and go in with a second shampoo). I do follow the instructions.

The Scalp Scrub is used once a week and it is not my favourite treatment as it is a bit of a faff really. Hair needs to be damp and then the applicator is a nozzle tube (handy!)
but it means I do it in the shower and then wander about trying not to freeze and then after 10 minutes I shampoo my hair (twice!)

Then I follow up with the Intensive Masque, which is really an interesting one.
This mask is supposed to be used before conditioner, but I did not purchase the conditioner (more than 3 items and I really had to choose what I wanted to try)

After the initial washes, I started applying the Intensive Masque on my scalp and roots (I save it for the important bits whereas the recommended application is all over, root to tip, and then rinse off and apply conditioner) and Aveda Intensive Conditioner/Macadamia Oil Hair Masque on my mid-lengths onwards. That way, I get to leave both on for about 10 minutes while I brush my teeth, wash my face and so on before I rinse off.

The Intensive Masque feels really tingly (in the best way possible) and is possibly my favourite product. I will be repurchasing the shampoo and the Intensive Masque, although the Intensive Masque looks to be running out first!

Also, I used to wash my hair every other day, and with this range, I now wash my hair every 4 days (3 if I know I am busy on the 4th day and frankly this regime takes FOREVER) but never have I been able to get away with not washing my hair so often!

My scalp is happier, the shampoo is cheaper than the Aveda Scalp Remedy one (which I still like and own a bottle) and all in all, this gets major thumbs up from me.
I still need really intense and good moisturising conditioners and masks for my long hair, but I think the hair is healthier and I have less fall out now as well. I will be going for a hair cut soon and hopefully this is all leading to a healthier do!
