Guerlain Meteorites Compact

I have raved about the Guerlain Meteorites in various blogposts (read them HERE) and when I was at the airport recently, I wanted to pick up the travel exclusives.
However, at £52 per pop I simply could not afford it and picked up this Guerlain Meteorites Compact instead.

The powder comes in a little black velvet pouch, which is something that high-end brands do to give that extra luxurious feeling (and it works).

The compact itself is silver and reflective, with the classic Guerlain Meteorites pattern on top. I was matched to the shade 3 Medium when I told the lady I am usually around a Mac NC25.

There are 4 colours in total, and while they can be used individually as eyeshadows, the payoff is so subtle that there is just a light dusting of shimmer really. The main way would be to swirl a powder brush all over and just lightly dust the face.

The product is similar to the original Guerlain Meteorites (the one I have is also a shade 3 Medium) and the 4 main colours are the same when I looked at them. Both products have the same Violet Parma scent, so if you are allergic to perfumed products, beware!

The main difference would be how convenient this would be to travel with, as I have had the original Guerlain Meteorites sent to me via post (there was slight damage and breakage of the little spherical goodness) and then when I packed it to come home, there was even more damage and all the powder was on the little puff that comes with it!)

The original Guerlain Meteorites comes with a little puff (mine is really too ugly to show at the moment) but the Guerlain Meteorites Compact does not, it comes with a little black velvet pouch instead. I tend to use mine with a brush as a light dusting to set my make up.

This product does have a very slight shimmer, it may look shimmery when you swatch it in store, but do not be afraid, somehow once it is on the face (even if you do the puff it on and then dust the excess off with a brush), the shimmer is not detectable. The only thing you can see is that your make up and skin looks airbrushed.

I love this product and am so glad that I now have a version that I can travel with conveniently. Guerlain is definitely a luxurious brand and this is no doubt an investment, but I prefer this more than my Hourglass ambient lighting powder and there is just something about the scent. LOVE.
