Fresh off the boat is the new range, A'Bloom by Althea Korea. Since it is an exclusive brand by Althea Korea, that is the only place you will find it. First things first, let's not deny that the packaging is so freaking adorable and stealing hearts everywhere!
Now before I go any further, I must do my customary disclaimer that I am part of the Althea Angels group, where we receive products in exchange for reviews and write ups. I am not paid for these posts and all opinions are my own.
Now that the nitty gritty is out of the way, let's dive into these fun products! I tend to be someone who prefers the classically elegant packaging, sleek over cute, classics over contemporary. However, once in a while, my inner child squeals in excitement, and this is one of those times!
Now because these items are affordable and adorable, I have no qualms about recommending them (spoiler much) plus these would look amazing as little gifts and top ups for anyone!
Diving into the most exciting launch first, A'Bloom has launched not 1 but 4 types of sheet masks! You can choose from brightening, hydrating, nourishing and anti-blemish. The names are cute witty and I love the little details such as the pictures and the colour-coded border! I go into a little more detail below and I have linked them to the 10pack on the website because it is RM2 per sheet mask, but RM15 for 10. BARGAIN central! Let me tell you since I have already tried these masks out, you want the 10 pack.
Here we have the ever popular water me long, moisturising watermelon mask sheet. Now watermelon has long been known to be hydrating, it is bursting with hydration and used by brands such as Glow Recipe. This is best for a hot day in Malaysia or when you are travelling on the plane and need an extra boost. Stock up when it is back in stock as at the time of writing, this is currently out of stock. So popular, but worth the wait.
Next up, also a bestseller, avo cuddle me - nourishing avocado mask sheet. I feel like hydrating and nourishing masks are usually go-to for most people, including myself, because they are easy to use and add a much needed boost on travelling or when your skin is just tired and worse for wear. This is also currently out of stock at the time of writing, but worth waiting for and stocking up on!
Here we have the sparkle me bright - brightening lemon lime mask sheet. This is burst full of niacinamide (if you are sensitive, stay away). It is listed as the 4th ingredient and the mask feels hydrating while brightening the face. It has a distinct lemon freshness scent to it which is lovely in the morning as an added wake up call!
And finally, the ac me peach - anti-blemish peach mask sheet. If you re expecting a peachy scent, I am sorry to inform this smells more like tea tree, but rather faintly. This is my least favourite mask out of the 4, but it is more personal preference as I prefer hydrating and nourishing sheet masks and a clay mask to detox and clarify. If you are acne-prone or super oily, you may prefer this over the rest!
One final observation I must point out about these mask is the material used. It is not your typical white sheet mask which looks terrifying (hello innisfree masks). The material used is translucent, which makes it a bit tricky to unfold and open up from the pack, but when applied to the face, looks almost perfectly matched to the skin (this also depends on your skills) and is much less scary than your traditional sheet masks! I highly recommend these on flights to not scare your fellow travellers!
Enough about sheet masks, A'Bloom also launched a BHA Blackhead Blaster and makeup application sponges they affectionately call Meringue Puffs!
I think you can see that the meringue puffs are really too cute for words. I have a super soft spot for them, but let's talk about the BHA Blackhead Blaster first!
First things first, this is really portable and easy to bring with you even when you are travelling. If you are anything like me, I get oily when I am travelling due to the added stress and perhaps extra pollution and challenges on my skin. The BHA Blackhead Blaster comes hygienically packaged with an extra plastic top. I recommend using that before closing it with the black lid.
The way to use this is to apply it onto damp skin (I tend to use it after washing my face on targeted areas like my nose and chin/jaw area). You apply the stick directly onto the skin in circular motions for about 30 seconds. Then I wipe the stick on my arm to clean off that top layer. You then rinse off with water or my preferred method is to use a damp washcloth/flannel/face towel to towel off.
It is easy enough to rinse off, do not fret. Dead skin is definitely lifted and removed because my skin is left looking brighter and smoother (even on the nose). The BHA in the stick, along with the charcoal (which gives it the colour) and apricot seed actually feels really gentle on the skin with no abrasions or harsh scrubbing action.
If you have combination or oily skin, you definitely need to check this out. At RM16, it really is a steal.
Now finally, we come to these super cute meringue puffs. The giant meringue puff in the middle retails for RM8 whereas the baby meringue puffs come in a pack of 3 and cost RM11 for the trio.
Here I have actually wet one of the baby meringue puff to show you how much it grows and expands in comparison to a dry one. I prefer to use my makeup sponges damp as I always feel it gives a better blend, is softer on the face and absorbs less of my makeup. A'Bloom says you can use it both wet (for a glossier finish) or dry (for a more matte finish).
I really love the Meringue Puffs and find myself reaching for them more than my Real Techniques sponge. I use the giant one for blending out my foundation and the baby ones more to touch up and perfect and occassionally to blend out my highlight, blush or bronze.
Now I think the entire range so far, is really affordable but the must haves for me would be the masks. I think they are the most addorable I have found thus far which I like, and nobody would say no to the makeup blending sponges. Watch out for promotions as in April during the launch, Althea Korea was doing buy 10 sheet masks and get another 10 for free. So that is RM15 for 20 sheet masks!!
