The Olive Tree

The Olive Tree is not a new brand in town, but relatively young. It was founded in 2015, and has the typical story of parents having children with eczema and realising the gap in the market for products that are gentle without irritating skin! That is a super brief story on how The Olive Tree came about but feel free to read about the story HERE.

First and foremost, when I purchased the items (which is now a few months back but I had to test it properly before writing this blogpost) I was given the canvas bag, which will give you RM1 off every time you shop with this bag, which is not a massive saving, but a saving all the same. I personally like the canvas bag and can see myself using this for many things, especially when I am travelling.

One of the sets I picked up was this 4 travel size + a kraft pouch for RM169.90. You can mix and match with the travel sizes and they are all in 100ml bottles, which is actually quite a lot if you are travelling. Most people only need about 30ml to 50ml if you are going away for the weekend so I would save these for longer holidays. The bottles are very travel friendly and are sturdy!

This pouch is quite interesting. It is supposed to look and feel like leather, and I do get the "feel" like leather, but the gold really takes away from it looking like leather. It fits quite a lot in it and I am able to put in the 4 travel bottles and have a little bit more. That is pretty impressive to me.

Now apart from looking very pretty and having a distinctively aesop aesthetic (winning), these are, like aforementioned, good for travelling, sturdy bottles that do not leak.

The Olive Tree Rose Geranium Hand & Body Wash - This smells like what it says, Rose Geranium. It is not your typical Rose scent because of the addition of Geranium. It is very gentle, non drying and very comfortable afterwards. It does not foam up much but neither is it just like a liquid oil. I am tempted to get the big one to use as a hand wash but frankly it is so nice that I love putting it all over my body.

The Olive Tree Rose Geranium Body Lotion - This smells exactly like the Hand & Body Wash. The lotion is surprisingly lightweight. It almost feels watery and sinks in to the body really quickly (as you would expect with such a lightweight formula). If you are particularly dry you may need to layer the body lotion, but for most of us in Malaysia, one layer of this is sufficient and perfect! This is not sticky but in the first 5 minutes of application you can feel it, without it being heavy. (Any lotion that you cannot feel is probably not doing anything!)

The Olive Tree Lavender Chamomile Shampoo - This was the first shampoo I tried and my scalp was instantly soothed. It is targeted more towards sensitive scalp and smells divine (I really love the smell of Lavender). If you have an irritated scalp and nothing has really worked (me) this will feel like a lifesaver. TRULY.

The Olive Tree Lavender Bergamot Hand & Body Wash - I love the scent of this and the bergamot lends it a slight freshness and somehow works beautifully with lavender. The entire range is very scented so if you are unsure if you like a scent, be sure to try and sniff in store because it is not one that you can ignore, you can smell it because it is THERE.

The products also come in the big 500ml bottles and the ones I picked up for these are actually The Olive Tree Rosemary & Mint Shampoo and Conditioner. I had a sniff of this and was instantly in love with it. Now Aveda does a Rosemary & Mint range as well, but the shampoo was not suitable for me because it was too drying but I was always crazy about the scent. So enter these babies!

When you purchase The Olive Tree Rosemary & Mint Shampoo and Conditioner or any of the range in the big 500ml bottles, you are given pumps! I will say that when I open the bottles up, they had a seal on them which peeled off with a bit of difficulty, but more importantly a layer of plastic refused to be peeled off! I literally had to pierce the plastic with the pump to get to the product, but oh so worth it!

The Olive Tree Rosemary & Mint Shampoo and Conditioner does not smell exactly like the Aveda one, I think this one smells more like Mint ice cream. The conditioner currently has silicones but I was informed that the future batches will no longer have silicones in the formulation. All the products are free from

  • Palm Oil
  • Parabens
  • Petroleum
  • Phthalates
  • Sulfates (SLS, SLES, etc.)
  • Synthetic colours and fragrances
  • Harmful chemicals and preservatives

Personally, The Olive Tree Rosemary & Mint Shampoo did not work out for me despite the incredible scent, and when I reached out to the company, they offered to exchange it for the Lavender one which I love and know work well for me.

The response from the company was so fast, and customer service is really excellent.

They also included brochures and leaflets, which I always find handy to browse through.

So they sent over the shampoo of dreams (if you have itchy scalp, this is heaven in a bottle) and a pump, which ever so thoughtful. Thank you! I have been using this for about 2-3 months now and I can honestly vouch for it and need a back up bottle!

There are many bits that I am still really curious about, including the pine soap dish (yes, really) and the body scrubs. I picked up a leaflet plus had all that extra ones sent to me, so you can also pop by the counters in 1 Utama and Pavillion to pick that up to read more about the brand.

I personally would struggle with what to repurchase as I love the Lavender scents and would want those but really like the Rose & Geranium scent as well.

There are other products such as handmade soaps, essential oils and carrier oils. If you have really sensitive skin, there are also products that are even gentler and less likely to cause any irritation to you, such as the Pure Liquid Castille Soap.

The Olive Tree has been very kind and are giving you, my readers, a RM15 off when you purchase with this code "Christabel15". This is good through the month of February (so it ends on 28th Feburary) and gives you free delivery within Malaysia! For more information, you can either leave a comment or go to The Olive Tree

Happy shopping and do tell me what you picked up! I know I am picking up a few items for sure!
