I love a good liquid lipstick and I prefer mine to have a matte finish. So I picked this NYX Cosmetics Soft Matte Lip Cream up because I saw many good reviews on blogs for it and Sephora had 20% off, bringing this down from RM30 to RM24. I initially picked 3 shades up from swatching but most of them were out of stock and so I could only pick this one up.

The first thing to note is probably that the lip product is actually a different colour from the packaging! The packaging shows a more muted pink but the product itself is quite a bright pink.

There is a rather bog standard doe foot applicator which is slanted and has a slightly more narrow tip to help with the shaping of the lips.

The actual product reminds me a lot of the Collection Cream Lip Puff that I used to love and really rate. I no longer own one as mine was dried out and I had to throw it out. Collection is not the cheapest here in Malaysia and now that NYX cosmetics is launching in Boots in UK, there is bound to be some comparison on the two products!
One difference I can immediately think of is the range of colours. Collection only offer 4 shades if I remember correctly but NYX Cosmetics offers many shades!

If you are familiar with the Collection Lip Puff, the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream has a very similar scent and even feel on the lips. It is easy enough to spread on the lips and dries almost immediately to this demi-matte finish. It is not completely dry and matte but rather a softer more flattering version. I tend to have to redip the wand to do my lower lip because one swipe is only enough product for my top lip.
