Althea is really stepping it up with product launches! After the amazing Althea Petal Velvet Powder (there are 3 versions now and I really love the translucent!) and the launch of their pared back skincare range, they have now launched a sunscreen!
*I am part of the Althea Angels Group and I receive products from Althea in exchange for a review
As Althea Angels, we have been very lucky and blessed to even receive this beautiful holographic pouch!
You can fit some items in the pouch, like all 3 of the Althea Petal Velvet Powders, but not everything. I think it would work well as a makeup bag in the handbag as it will not be too much.
Along with the new sunscreen, which is aptly named Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway, we have received the Althea Petal Velvet Powder in Translucent, Pink Lavender and Warm Beige!
Let us not forget the star of the show though, which is this Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway! It actually boasts SPF 50+ PA++++ and is packaged in a very portable yet durable plastic squeezy tube.
If it tickles your fancy, you can keep it in your holographic pouch and bring it along to top up on your sunscreen!
The Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway promises a velvety finish through a hydrating formula. How do they achieve this? A micro powder system controls excess sebum while hyaluronic acids maintains hydration in the skin all day.
What you do want to make sure is that you shake really well before you start dispensing the product. Immediately upon application, you can smell the rose scent. I am personally not the biggest fan of this rose scent as I find it quite intense. It does peter off to a more herbal, almost citronella (read insect repellant scent) to me!
The texture of the product itself is interesting as it definitely feels hydrating and comforting on the skin without feeing heavy or stifling. It also gives a velvet smoothing finish as promised, and no shine whatsoever!
It is perhaps due to the amount that I tend to slather on, but I do find this to leave a slight white cast on my face. This is easily covered when I wear a foundation or a bb cream, any coverage instantly takes the white cast off. It does not overpower and whiten even my makeup. However, when I wear this on its own without any base, I can definitely see a white cast on my face.
How did it perform? My skin actually looked wonderful after a long day at work. Not only was my forehead and chin not oily at all, the makeup around my cheeks looked freshly applied with no signs of wear at all. I was seriously impressed with the sunscreen's ability to act as a primer.
I personally have not had as much luck with the Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway as the other Althea products.I have a love-hate relationship with this one, in which I wish that it did not leave a white cast on me (maybe I need to wear less of it but I really like to bathe in my sunscreen) and I do not love the scent of this.
Have you tried out the all new Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway? Let me know your experiences with this product!
