FRANKIE is actually a local brand that I discovered through instagram. How? There was a sponsored post about their rose quartz gua sha and I was all over it instantly!
Before I know it, the brand had sent a little parcel over and I like that it is a small package as there really was no need for excessive packaging at all.
I actually picked up just the Rose Heart Gua Sha but FRANKIE were doing a promotion where you get a sample of the Solace Organic Face Oil to try out, so that was pretty ace. The brand was also kind enough to let me try out the Luminate Day Face Oil for me to review.
Included in the box is also this unity ribbon, which is a really nice touch.
I definitely feel like the brand has its heart in the right place, and while I do not always choose local, I try to venture local where I can.
Last I checked, the FRANKIE Solace Organic Face Oil has not launched officially. It is meant to be suitable for sensitive skin and having tried this on my face, I can confirm that it does not really smell like anything, does not irritate my skin and does not feel overly greasy. It absorbed nicely after I used the Gua Sha with it.
The one thing I will flag is that there is St John's Wort in the oil, which is proven to affect contraceptive, if you consume it. I am not sure about its effect in skincare, but be forewarned and do your own research if you are on contraception!
FRANKIE also has 2 other facial oils on the website already - Luminate Day Face Oil and Lullaby Night Face Oil.
While you can see it as a day oil and a night oil, the Luminate Day Face Oil is also better suited to normal-combination skin, whereas the Lullaby Night Face Oil is better suited to normal-dry skin. The brand is quite responsive if you have any questions for them!
Since I have skin that leans more oily than dry, I am lucky that I received the Luminate Day Face Oil and I can attest that this does not feel greasy on the skin. I find that my skin always feels less oily whenever I use an oil the night before. It makes my skin feel lovely and soft. I personally save facial oils for night use and I really enjoyed this one. This retails at RM69, which seems quite affordable, but you do only get 15ml of product as opposed to the usual 30ml. I have no issue with this since I go through oils pretty slowly.
Finally, we have this little muslin pouch, which houses the product I was most excited about!
If you are new to Gua Sha (I am!), you will find that there is a handy little guide/how-to in the pouch, as well as a soft cloth to clean your Rose Heart Gua Sha.
The booklet is very informative but if you prefer a video, you can watch some on FRANKIE's instagram.
While the heart shape is really sweet, I actually find the shape pretty helpful in getting into the crevices of the face.
So far I tend to do Gua Sha on my face at least twice a week and I am really enjoying the sensation it gives and just a good massage to the face. I actually like this so much that I am thinking of picking some up as gifts for friends. There are also quite a few other products in the brand line up that has piqued my interest such as the anti-spot treatment and the flutter lash oil! Stay tuned as I am pretty sure you will be seeing me blog about those real soon.
