My sister asked me to pick my own Christmas present, and this was what I have had my eye on for a while. I initially wanted to pick up the Too Faced Grand Palais Christmas set, but it was rather overwhelming in size and just sheer amount of products, that I though I would be better off picking something that I can tote around.
Here is the palette and the mirror as you can see, is BIG - YES.
The shades are all named on the plastic lid which comes with the palette, which means I will probably lose it and never know what shade I am using, ever again.
I do wear both warm and cool eyeshadows, liking one over the other whenever my mood strikes. The blush in this is very wearable, the sort of pink I gravitate towards. I do prefer my blushes cooler rather than warm. In fact, after putting the blusher on, I would buy this palette just for that blush colour. YES.
Apart from the 6 eyeshadows, there are also 2 eyeliner colours (which can be used as eyeshadows too) and a highlight shade. The shimmer shades swatch better than the matte shades, which are a little more chalky. When using an eyeshadow brush they are soft and easily blended out, but when finger swatching, the chalkiness is apparent.
Here is the entire eyeshadow swatched, this is in natural light.
The shimmer shades show up better in this picture and you can see that the matte shades do not swatch as smoothly.
I do think that the size proportions are ideal, and I love that this is a compact palette. I have the Tarte Rainforest Palette and although I love every single shade in it but I do not like the round palette. I feel that it takes up a lot of space when I am travelling.
Here is a look I created using mainly the shades in this palette.
Here is a quick upclose to show you the mix and match of the purple lashes.
The only other things I am wearing are : Too Faced Born This Way Foundation, Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer and Tarte Camera, Lights, Lashes Mascara.
